Booker Vineyard was planted in 2003 under the consultation of Justin Smith of Saxum, one of the foremost winemaker/viticulturists in the country. Owners Eric and Lisa Jensen are passionate about their vineyard, which sells fruit to J&L clients such as Saxum, Pax and Linne Calodo. The high density site, planted solely on hillsides of pure calcareous shale is constantly pro-active in seeking the latest in sustainable farming technique. While not certified organic, we use no pesticides or harsh chemicals. The vineyard, which is located on the West Side of Paso Robles, is planted mostly to syrah, Grenache and mourvedre. The winemaking style is simple; work extremely hard for ten months in the vineyard, then do as little to the fruit as possible. We harvest solely based on flavors, and attempt to allow everything to go through primary and secondary fermentation with native yeast. A total of 1,300 cases were produced in 2005.
