Epoch Estate

Epoch Estate, founded in 2004 by Bill and Liz Armstrong, is comprised of two properties: Paderewski Vineyard and Catapult Vineyard for a total of 95 acres of vines planted on steep slopes of calcareous and limestone soils. the Paderewski Vineyard was originally planted to Zinfandel and Petite Sirah by polish pianist and statesman, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, nearly a hundred years ago. After his death in 1941, his vineyard went unfarmed and was eventually removed. there were no remaining vines at the time the Armstrong’s purchased it.  the second estate property is the 30-acre Catapult Vineyard located at the intersection of highway 46 west and Anderson Road in the Templeton gap. it is planted to Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Cinsaut, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Tempranillo.  James Laube of the Wine Spectator recently recognized Epoch Estate among the top producers in the west Paso region. The Epoch team includes founders Bill & Liz Armstrong, winemaker Jordan Fiorentini consulting winemaker Justin Smith from Saxum and veteran vineyard manager John Crossland.
