Le P’Tit Paysan (which translates to “the little peasant or a clown in country fashion”) has one of the more intersting labels we have seen in a while. Ian Brand is the talented winemaker responible for Le P’Tit Paysan, in partnership with vineyard owners John and Julie Allen of Coastview Vineyard in Monterey. Brand has garnered an abundance of expertise from quite a few local wineries. When he first came to Santa Cruz from Utah, he worked at Bonny Doon Vineyard, honing his skills over time and dealing his destiny in winemaking. He also did a stint and Big Basin Vineyards in Boulder Creek, Nicholson Vineyards in Corralitos and Pierce Vineyard, located in the newly designed San Antonio Valley in the south of Monterey County. Sourced from grapes grown in rocky, granite-based soils on the east side of the Salinas Valley (directly opposite the famed Santa Lucia Highlands AVA). The P’Tit Paysan wines have pedigree. Le P’Tit Paysan is dedicated to producing affordable and accessible wines that satisfy a sophisticated palate.
