Adelaida Cellars

The synergy of unique “terroir”, sustainable agriculture and minimalist winemaking all come together in the ripe, well balanced wines made at Adelaida Cellars.  Named after a 19th century settlement in the Santa Lucia Mountains the winery lies on the west side of Paso Robles, some 15 miles from the fog shrouded Pacific coast at elevations of 2000 feet.  This dramatic terrain has become synonymous with ancient calcareous soils of limestone and chalk, diurnal temperature changes of 40-50 degrees and inherently low yielding vines with concentrated grape flavors.  The adelaida Estate features Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the historic microclimate of HMR Vineyard (established on 1963) and Reserve quality Cabernet and Syrah from the steep rocky outcropping of the Viking Vineyard.  A rigorous selection process allows for medium intensity estate fruit to find a home in our good value “SLO” and “Schoolhouse” labels.  Winemaker Terry Culton’s passion and finesse ensure that the purity of the vineyard comes through in the finished wine.

Alban Vineyards

Alban Vineyards’ is the first American winery and vineyard established exclusively for Rhone Varieties.  Conceived at a time when there were virtually only two “flavors” of wine produced in the U.S., they set out to introduce wine grapes that would offer enophiles a new world of possibilities.  Pioneering Roussanne, Grenache Noir, and Viognier to go along with meticulously selected clones of Syrah; Alban Vineyards has guided consumers and producers to the enormous potential of “Rhones” in California.

Aqua Pumpkin

Established in 1996 by Ken Volk.  The Aqua Pumpkin label has always represented quality and value from the Central Coast.  The Aqua Pumpkin label has poked fun at the often pretentious wine industry.  It’s silly back labels associated with the Central Coast and oblique references to American cultural icons are a hallmark of the Aqua Pumpkin Brand.     Aqua Pumpkin “fun wine from happy grapes.”

Bargetto Winery

Two vintners who believed in the Santa Cruz Mountains as a world-class wine-growing region were brothers Phillip and John Bargetto. Immigrants from the Piedmont region in Italy, they founded Bargetto Winery on the day prohibition was repealed, Dec. 5th, 1933. Today Bargetto Winery, with its nearly seven decades of history has the longest tradition of producing fine Santa Cruz Mountains wines, and is still owned and operated by the Bargetto family. In addition to fine premium varietals from vinifera grapes, Bargetto also makes excellent dessert wines under the Chaucer’s label.

Beckmen Vineyards

Founded in 1994 by Judy and Tom Beckmen, Beckmen Vineyards is a family-run, estate-grown winery in the Santa Ynez Valley. Since its inception, Beckmen Vineyards has evolved through a harmonious marriage of insight and inspiration to become one of North America's premier producers of estate Rhone varietals.

Convinced of the tremendous potential of the Santa Ynez Valley, Tom Beckmen undertook an extensive and painstaking search for the ideal location to establish Beckmen Vineyards. He finally found what he was looking for on a small and neglected 40-acre parcel with an existing small winery. Together, Tom and his winemaker son Steve began polishing this jewel in the rough. They removed the 16 original acres of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon (planted in 1982) that had not realized their full potential due to neglect and incorrect varietal selection. The vineyard was replanted to the correct varietal selection on the correct rootstock, implementing modern biodynamical viticultural practices in the vineyard. Today, the Beckmen wines portray the commitment that has been made in the vineyard.

Tom and Steve came to believe that the Santa Ynez region had the ideal climate and growing conditions for producing stunning Rhone varietals. This belief became a reality when the Beckmens purchased the property that would become Purisima Mountain Vineyard, an unplanted 365-acre Santa Ynez Valley ranch uniquely suited to Rhone varietals.

The rewards have been great but not without considerable labor. With an elevation reaching 1250 feet, the farming of Purisima Mountain Vineyard represents one of the most ambitious hillside vineyard endeavors in the Santa Ynez Valley. Yet, the high elevation, unique microclimate and rare limestone subsoil make this special vineyard a winemaker's dream.

Beckmen Vineyards has stayed true to the land, and true to its vision. Believing that the wine in the bottle begins in the soil, Beckmen Vineyards has pursued a course of minimal intervention winemaking that respects the unique riches of Purisima Mountain Vineyard. The winery now produces a full line of excellent estate grown Rhone varietals including Syrah, Grenache, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Rose, Marsanne, and Cuvee Le Bec (a blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Counoise) that exemplify the capabilities of the region. It also produces small quantities of first-rate Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc made from smaller vineyard lots that are well suited to these varietals.
