Refugio Ranch is a four hundred fifteen acre estate located in the Santa Ynez Valley AVA of California’s Central Coast. Within the property, covered largely by old oak trees, twenty six select acres were mindfully planted and have been well cared for by the Gleason Family. Under the attention of Coastal Vineyard Care Associates and Ruben Solorzano, the vines are thoughtfully nurtured throughout the year, focusing on the uniqueness of each individual growing season. This philosophy allows an authentic expression of the land and its fruit, because no two seasons are exactly alike. All of our grapes are hand-harvested in the cool of the night, and only the finest clusters are selected for Refugio Ranch Wines. Winemaker Ryan Deovlet brings a unique artistry to his craft; he honors the history of this age-old tradition, while embracing a spirit of innovation. Employing a multitude of winemaking techniques, Ryan allows for depth, complexity, and varietal character to emerge in our wines. Refugio Ranch represents a centuries-old history of cowboys and cattle ranching. We have opened a new chapter for this land, with the promise of celebrating the spirit of this unique corner of the earth. The native land has been left largely untouched but for the vines that the land itself nurtures and readies for harvest. Our family believes it is “Terroir” or that sense of place, that gives a wine its soul. With soul comes a certain connection to something ancient. We feel connected to our land, and it is our hope that our wines will leave you feeling connected to Refugio Ranch.
