All aboard for an array of excellent wines from one of the area’s best-known vineyard management families. Generations of the Merrill Family have called California’s Central Coast home; eight generations, in fact. They are recognized as experts in the region’s many growing conditions and the varieties that do best in these vineyard sites. One would expect the wines coming off the Merrill Family’s estate vineyard in Templeton, California to be both distinctive and enticing – and they are. The wines are bottled from the finest blocks of fruit grown in their own vineyards. The Calcareous soils deliver a richness reflected in the full-bodied reds. The outstanding whites are examples of grapes that are warmed by the sun during the day, cooled by coastal intrusion at night and perfected by skillful winemaking. Good farming practices are essential to healthy environments and fine wines and the Merrill’s are leaders in sustainable vineyard farming techniques. They are justifiably proud of the vigilant practices that help produce wines that are not only delicious on the palate, but also examples of what wine growers can accomplish by making thoughtful choices.
